How do machines learn? This question is explored and demonstrated beautifully in an activity produced by Hour of Code. AI for Oceans introduces ML (machine learning) to students while addressing real-world environmental challenges.

Machine Learning - How computers recognise patterns and make decisions without being explicitly programmed.

In this activity, students of all ages will get an introductory experience with coding and AI. First students classify objects as either ‘fish’ or ‘not fish’ as a way of removing rubbish from the ocean. They will then go on to expand their training data set to include other sea creatures.
